The painting was made in acrylic technique on a cotton canvas. Unframed/sides painted black/frame on request, secured with WINSOR/NEWTON varnish. It has a sling/ready to hang on the wall. The painting is a fragment of the fanciful series "On the Edge of the Forest". The subject of the painting is the Dance of Death (from French: danse macabre) an allegorical dance, the depiction of which developed in the culture of the late Middle Ages (14th and 15th centuries), a procession of people of all classes with a skeleton at the forefront, expressing the equality of all people in the face of death. The dance of death was one of the most popular allegories in the visual arts and literature of the late Middle Ages.
