The painting was painted on a cotton canvas, properly primed, unframed/sides painted black. It was secured with WINSOR/NEWTON varnish. It has a sling. The subject of the painting refers to legends and tales about Witches, commonly known as Witches. They were supposedly women who, in exchange for eternal youth and the power of black magic, made a pact with the Devil himself. According to legends, they lived deep in the forests, hiding their own practices from people. The title house was supposed to stand on a hen's foot.
