Tondo with Kalla , 2019

Gosh this piece tortured me terribly. Maybe it’s because this is my first tondo and I had the impression that I don’t have enough space. I just felt bit overwhelmed by this form and I couldn’t get along with it for a month. However, I decided to paint what I like most – a curvy woman and Calla plant which I bought for my kitchen recently. It’s supposed to be a cemetery plant, often seen at funerals, but don’t expect any symbolism here… It’s just a fascinating flower for me. When I hang it on the wall, it looks completely different from the rest. I have to admit that the circular effect is really appealing.
