There is so much summer in this painting! The year this painting was created, the peonies bloomed late, lasting until early July, so the peonies in my garden delighted the eye every day in June. The golden base symbolizes the warmth and energy of the gentle sun. The pastel shades of the petals evoke the mist of an early summer morning. And there are so many details - I love details, because, as they say, “the devil is in the details.”
