Olympic Excitement with the Art in House Auction House and Art Gallery

The Art in House Auction House and Art Gallery team organizes numerous cultural events, continually raising the bar. Since the beginning of the year, they have initiated dozens of auctions, including charity events, and arranged numerous individual and group exhibitions. Representatives of Art in House, along with artists, also visited Kielce, where they organized an exhibition and art auction during the largest sacred art fair in Central and Eastern Europe. Additionally, the owner of the auction house, Anita Wolszczak-Karasiewicz, in collaboration with the Polish Olympic Committee and the Association of Polish Artists, initiated the opening of the largest Sculpture Garden in Poland around the Olympic Center in Warsaw. But that’s not all: this summer, a group of representatives and artists from Art in House will be heading to the Olympic Games in Paris.

The upcoming Olympics will be exceptional for Poles because, for the first time in history, Maison Polonaise – a pavilion designed specifically for our athletes, media, and fans – will open in the heart of Paris. The Art in House team will be responsible for the artistic setup, ensuring the building exudes an appropriately sporty atmosphere. Engaged artists have embraced this theme in their creations, contributing to the vibrant sports ambiance of the pavilion.

Polish Culture, Art, and Sport

On July 26, 2024, coinciding with the opening of the XXXIII Olympic Games, the Polish Olympic Committee will officially inaugurate Maison Polonaise. This venue will serve as a meeting place for sports enthusiasts eager to meet the Olympians, as well as for art and culture aficionados. Visitors will experience concerts, Polish culinary specialties, and, thanks to the Art in House representation, exhibitions from each artist involved in the project. The events will include interviews with the creators, exploring artistic and sports-related themes, alongside a beautifully curated exhibition of paintings and sculptures, admired for their meticulousness, detail, and profound messages.

Kalos kagathos – Beautiful and Good

Since ancient times, art has found a common language with sport, as evidenced by some of the oldest sculptures from Ancient Greece, such as the Discobolus. Its creator, Myron, paid great attention to the athlete’s sculpted body, depicting him in a symmetrical composition and capturing the tension before the movement. Physical activity has always symbolized more than just physical prowess—it speaks of the harmony and beauty of the human body, a healthy lifestyle, and above all, the noble values that should guide us. This philosophy is encapsulated in the Greek term “kalokagathia.” This year, the Polish sports representation will, for the first time, fully embrace the spirit of unity through the establishment of Maison Polonaise, where the realm of sports will correspond with the realm of art. This space will gather ideas and a good atmosphere, providing exceptional attractions.

Maison Polonaise in Paris will be enriched with the works of distinguished artists: Jerzy Kędziora, Joanna Mieszko, and Wojciech Brewka. Their works, gathered in one space, will offer a fascinating artistic experience that will not only highlight Poland’s rich cultural heritage but also create an inspiring atmosphere for athletes and visitors.

Jerzy Kędziora is renowned for his extraordinary sculptures that seem to defy gravity. His works often challenge conventional perceptions of balance and movement. By combining realism with dynamism, the artist achieves a unique effect where the viewer is not merely observing a sculpture but witnessing a spectacle filled with expression. These works will bring an element of surreal elegance to Maison Polonaise, symbolizing the strength, agility, and determination of the athletes.

Joanna Mieszko covers her canvases with vibrant colors and countless details. For Maison Polonaise, she has prepared a new series depicting all the cities that have hosted the Olympic Games over the past decades. In Paris, four paintings from this extensive series will be on display. These works, with their sports themes and the artist’s unique perspective, will cater to the viewers’ interests. Her paintings aim to evoke the spirit of unity and perseverance, which are the key values of the Olympic Games.

Wojciech Brewka is known for his expressive and bold artistic style. His works often feature intense use of colors and textures that convey strong emotions and dynamic energy. The exhibition “MOVE” focuses on the human figure and movement, understood as a fundamental need to strive for continuous change, leading to self-realization.

On a deeper level of interpretation, movement also represents the artist’s personal struggles during the several-month-long creative process, stemming from the uniqueness and difficulty of the theme he tackled. This presented series is a novelty in Brewka’s work, where the human figure has previously played only a minor role, giving precedence to portraits of animals and toys ravaged by fate.
