Summer has finally arrived at Art in House, which means a slight slowdown, but we do not intend to rest on our laurels. We have arranged an exhibition in our gallery space that will be available to visit throughout the holidays. Among the exhibited works you will find both unique paintings and interesting sculptures, so we cordially invite you to visit our gallery. Visit the exhibition, stop for a moment and take a deep breath, because the collected works will fill you with peace and joy.

Dreams Painted on Canvases – Oneirism in the Art of Jan Bonawentura Ostrowski
The first thing you’ll see upon stepping into the gallery is the main exhibition wall, adorned with eight vibrant paintings by Jan Bonawentura Ostrowski. This artist’s works appear at every one of our auctions and are met with great interest. However, it’s only when viewed as a group that they truly shape the space and mood of the place in an extraordinary way. Each canvas features distinctive figures with elongated proportions, striking theatrical poses, and gestures. What particularly catches the eye is the blissful expression on the faces of the portrayed, which lends a serene and idyllic atmosphere to the depictions. The activities that the characters engage in are relaxing and joyful for them. We see several musicians playing wind, string, and plucked instruments. A few paintings also feature animals, such as birds, with which the figures seem to almost converse, and a horse carrying a violinist into a misty, dreamlike distance. These paintings perfectly capture the summer spirit, embodying the phrase carpe diem, as the characters immerse themselves in seemingly trivial and inconsequential activities. Their portrayal in carefree joy reminds us of the simple happiness we need in our daily lives.

A World Bathed in Beige – Dance Compositions by Bożena Sieczyńska
The exhibition also features works dominated by beige, created by Bożena Sieczyńska, renowned for capturing frozen motion on canvas using minimalist means. The artist employs the color and texture of raw, untreated canvas, which becomes either the background or the color of the dresses worn by female figures. On display are two classic compositions and styles typical of Sieczyńska: “Szczęście 41” (Happiness 41) and “Świat się zatrzymał” (The World Stopped). These paintings depict female silhouettes in motion, with flowing hair and a windy, vibrant background. Both works are quite minimalist, with a color palette limited to beige, brown, and white. These pieces radiate graceful expression and feminine charm.
The other two paintings by Sieczyńska, “They 3” and “Plaża bez parawanów Sopot” (Beach Without Windbreaks Sopot), represent slightly different values. The first is almost abstract, with human silhouettes emerging from dark spots on a light background, hinted at by the title. The second painting, seen from a bird’s-eye view, shows a beach dotted with tiny figures, whose individuality has been blurred. All of Bożena Sieczyńska’s works portray transience and lightness with a touch of delicate melancholy. These paintings will brighten and calm your interiors.

Floral Expressions – Paintings by Joanna Mieszko, Krystyna Ruminkiewicz, and Agnieszka Banasiak
Flower composition enthusiasts will undoubtedly appreciate the paintings by Joanna Mieszko, Krystyna Ruminkiewicz, and Agnieszka Banasiak. One of the leading painting cycles by Joanna Mieszko is “Poppies,” with four canvases from this series showcased in the exhibition. A flood of flowers fills these paintings to the brim, exuding joy and vitality, highlighted by the intensely colored poppy petals in red and pink, accentuated by a blue outline. In contrast, Krystyna Ruminkiewicz’s work “Tulip Flowerism,” while also floral-themed, is depicted quite differently. The painting is created using pointillism with geometric divisions, giving it a stained-glass effect. Although the tulip shapes are adapted to the intersecting lines, the flowers still represent the natural, pleasant chaos found in a garden.
The last of the floral paintings is “There She Is and He in Exceptional and Non-Exceptional Moments” by Agnieszka Banasiak. This canvas differs from the previously mentioned ones as it features a female figure. The entire composition strongly references Klimt’s techniques, with the use of a golden background adorned with numerous flowers and the depiction of a suggestive and intense gaze of the portrayed woman.

Pastel Colors – Works by Jan Pływacz and Adam Wątor
To gently soothe the emotions stirred by the vibrant flowers, we invite you to explore the works of Jan Pływacz and Adam Wątor, rendered in subdued and delicate hues. Jan Pływacz transports us to a cubist and musical world, where pastel elements become fragmented. These paintings would perfectly complement a modernist and minimalist interior, adding an intriguing, serene, yet subtly subversive atmosphere.
Adam Wątor, on the other hand, portrays women in a way that imbues them with value and mystery. Although the subjects in his portraits are devoid of attributes, we perceive the souls of the heroines hidden in their gazes, often reaching us indirectly through reflections in mirrors or mirrored floors. These images are filled with a delicate stillness that emanates from them, calmly enveloping the room. Wątor’s unique application of paint adds dynamism to these static works, giving the impression that the figures are about to move.
